Who is Katie? Katie is my grandmother, the matriarch of my family. She loved and cared for me coming up. With Geechee, Chow-wauk-hee and Choctaw roots she passed down ancient tribal healing remedies and practices. She used to send me down to the pine tree that she tapped herself, that was located behind her residence to gather sap from it so that she could make a scalp salve for my hair. She kindled a fire in me for all natural hair care turned self care as a whole that would surface later in my journey. To you grandmother, I honor you on my path because you are the reason for my existence. May mixtures and salves be remembered and proven effective to every soul that they may reach. Ase'.
